Your Guide to Austin and Central Texas
Entertainment
If it's entertainment you want - Austin is the place to be! Maybe it's all of those government and high-tech workers needing some stress relief - or maybe it's the huge number of college students looking for some fun. Whatever it is, there is no shortage of ways to entertain yourself in Austin.

Austin is widely known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World" - and comes by that title legitimately. There are literally dozens and dozens of clubs and live music venues in Austin, presenting an endless variety of music every single night of the week. A huge number of musicians (artists of every kind in fact) live in the area, many with national reputations (can you say "Willie Nelson"?)

Add in the great number of world-class music events, like SXSW and the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and you can appreciate that Austin loves and supports music and entertainment. Sixth Street in downtown Austin might be considered the headquarters for the live music scene, but you will find live music venues throughout the city and beyond. The night really is alive with the sound of music.

Not surprisingly Austin has a vibrant night life fueled in part by all of the great music. There are many popular nightclubs willing to "wet your whistle", and if you need a laugh, a growing number of comedy clubs have arisen.

We have barely scratched the surface of entertainment in Austin. Be sure to also check out the Events, Recreation, Dining, Arts, and Sports categories for many other "entertainment" opportunities.
