Your Guide to Austin and Central Texas
Dining, Lodging, and Travel
Austin has many fine places to eat - from first-class restaurants to road-side tamale stands - with everything in-between. Austin is located in the heart of Texas - and Texas is blessed with several food traditions unrivaled by any other state. These include outstanding Tex-Mex, Barbeque, Chili, and Southern Cooking cuisines.

Austin can boast numerous cafes and diners that specialize in down-home "comfort" food - the kind you wish your mom used to make. There are also many specialty eateries catering to any cuisine you have a hankering for: Barbeque to Vegetarian - Armenian to Vietnamese (just about every nationality has an ethnic-flavored place to eat) - "haute cuisine" to "soul food".

Austin also offers many quality hotels conveniently located downtown and along major traffic corridors. A first-class airport services the city with the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which has become a model of efficient operation with a regional flavor. Capital City Metro is the mass transit solution for Austin (however the city is perennially considering light rail).
